Pablo Picasso 'Peintre Rembranesque avec son Modèle' 'Rembranesque painter with his Model' Etching on BFK rives paper, 1968 Signed in pencil Artist proof print next to the edition of 50 copies Published by Galerie Louise Leiris 1969 Illustrated in Bloch nr,. 1502 Size paper 44.5 x 56 cm. Size frame 76 x 69 cm. Provenance: a gift from Maya Picasso to the previous owner. This etching comes from the famous '347 suite', named after the number of works in this series. When it was released in 1968, people were astonished that Picasso, at the age of 86, had created 347 etchings and aquatints in just 7 months. The series also caused a stir due to its explicit erotic content. In particular, 20 of the prints sparked debate over whether they should be shown publicly. Nonetheless, the '347' series went on an international tour that same year, with exhibitions at Galerie Louise Leiris in Paris, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
