KEES VAN DONGEN - 'PORTRAIT DE JEUNE FEMME' Lithograph, c. 1925. Unsigned proof in black and white on Arches paper. Paper size: 48 x 32 cm. Between 1925 and 1930, Van Dongen worked on a series of lithographs of portraits of elegant girls and ladies. The intention was to create a series of 6 different portraits, each in an edition of 100 copies. After the proofs were printed in black, the project was abandoned for unclear reasons. Only 7 numbered copies of each portrait are known, along with a few unnumbered ones. Most of these were hand-coloured by Van Dongen. The remainder of the edition has probably been lost.
